we are talking an actual silvia s15 and not a nissan 240 right???
The S15 Silvia Spec-R is powered by the SR20DET 2.0-litre, in-line-4 turbocharged engine with intercooler, with 250 horsepower and 28.0kg-m of torque (Manual Transmission). The S15 Silvia Spec-S is powered by the SR20DE 2.0-litre in-line-4 DOHC engine, which produces 165 horsepower and 19.6kg-m of torque (Manual Transmission).taken from...http://www.j-garage.com/2310.htm...and here is the factory service manual on the s15 as well...http://www.zeroyon.com/TheSite/techservice.html

personally, i wouldn't do it.... if you're in hawaii i'm sure you're still under US regulations and all that, meaning you won't be able to register it as a regular car.

i think there was a post a long ways back where this place in california had about 8-10 of these cars, brand new. or maybe it was an ebay auction for you to pick one of them.

but if you can get one and register without any problems, more power to ya! (i'm pretty sure you don't want to sell your sti then find out you can't drive the s15)

general rule: get more than one opinion i've had people at the dealership tell me things, which weren't true. and i've had other people tell me stuff, which weren't true. actually, yeah, just go to the source (dmv). cause after you get the car, you go to dmv, not dealership. good luck!

just curious, does the Hawaiian DMV suck as much as the the rest of the US? cuz if its not as bad as here in cali (doom!) then i would say do what makes sense. of course, the S15 will have to be federally spec-ed and ****, at which point you're looking at a laborious process. and you say both cars are in a warehouse here in cali? hmmm, i might just have to find this warehouse...

you must be straight dumb to sell an STi for a s15. probably want it just for JDM bling factor.

300hp AWD vs 280hp RWD.

if you sell your STi and buy the s15 and think you can register it, hit the search button and educate yourself.

you are being fed BS thinking you can legalize a s15. they are trying to get rid of those s15s by telling you, you can register it with DMV, of course thats true with VIN swaps and DMV "hookups" but in the end you are is still illegal and will be Crushed when found.

when your car gets crushed, maybe you'll slap yourself in the head and call yourself stupid for selling the STi

Cali has a ****load of s15s, but are all parked hard cuz they cant be driven. yes people drive other JDM cars, but not everyday everywhere they go.

law states cars must pass DOT and all that crap, meaning you have to CRASH at least 3 cars and fix all the problems and crash again to make sure it passes after that.

being the cars are STORED in a warehouse or wahteve rin Cali should tell you enough you cant drive them

there is a guy claiming he legalized a s15. how much did it cost? 50K. and he still doesnt back up his **** to prove its totally street legal. what does he say? "the car is legal, the only thing illegal on the car is the exahust"

dealership my ***, its juss another place that fixes up cars, or imports them

educate yourself before you get sucked into other peoples tricks. people tell you this and that to try and pull little misinformed fishes like you to buy their **** and get it off their hands.

its not just about speed to me.....i honestly could careless about that now....because every car has capabilites to be fast

ive had a 12.3 sec wrx, and now my sti is 12.2

but when it comes down to it the s15 is my second import dream besides the SKYLINE

first of all. its DMV not DNV

That car is NOT legal. TRUST EVERYONE. The reason NO-ONE has one is because they are ILLEGAL.

dont be a sucker that keeps those shady *** buisnesses running.

its not all about speed. the STi will out perform the s15 in EVERY catagory. simply put, STi is subarus super car, as the skyline is Nissans super car.

spend 22k on a car you cant drive, or spend 5k on a s14 ans wap the motor to s15 and get yourself a 6spd.

educate yourself about the car first before you buy the thing. how do i know you lack information?

"what motor does it come with? sr20black top?"

180sx and s14s come with SR20 black tops.

it'd be cool to have a real silvia... but like silviadriver said, do a swap. get an s14, get an rb26dett, and have a hidden skyline. i think that'd be a ltitle better than having a silvia. and you'd still end up spending less.

if he has the money..and its his dream car why not do it. we all know legal or not if we had the "extra" money to own an s15 we would do it just to say we own one. i drive na ka s13 because im broke like most everyone else. dont get me wrong i love my s13 but to know i had an s15 in the garage would be bad ***! if you want a daily driver stick to the scooby, if you want to create somthing make an s14.5 and if you wanna be a rebal badass get the s15. good luck with it......hard choice!
