SARD Fuel pressure regulator?

SARD Fuel pressure regulator?
Sorry for the stupid newb question, but what exactly does a fuel pressure regulator EXACTLY do. I have an idea, but a good explanation would help.
I have an SR blacktop for my S14, trying to build it with a stock S15 turbo, and just shooting for 320 whp on 91 **** gas. I have a SARD Fuel rail, and thinking of getting RC engineering bigger injectors and a SARD FPR (by recommendation).

Any help?
Thanks

its adjustable and is more stable when flowing more fuel. i also have one but i went back to stock cause its leaking from the gauge... why did they have to make the thread on the gauge all retarded.... now i cant find the plug it came with so f it i just went back to stock for now

Battosaii930, what if you were to put some kind of sealant or thread lock on the gauge's threads. I also understand that you would have to be careful not to get that into the fuel system. Doesn't it come with an O-Ring gasket? Do you think its a common problem amoung all FPR's or just the SARD one? Thanks!

you mean like RTV? nah the gas will eat through that with time. its a very very small leak.
also its no o ring or anything just fits. but its Sards fault not the Gauge.
see in the pic well the 2 blue fittings are 1/8 thread and thats is perfectly normal but you see the little black plug on the left of it? well thats some weird thread i forgot exactly i can look it up from sard its like 1/8 NPT or somthing its different. i bought an Adaptor from Summit and it seemed to fit right but it has a small leak there.
heres mine.
cant really see in the pic but you see in the second pic where the Teflon tape is stained yellow from the gas.
