Should I buy a rebuilt 240

I am looking for a cheap 240sx that I can turn into my project car and drop a SR engine in it. I found a 96 with a rebuilt engine for 2000. I would have to get it shipped. I don't know if it is auto or 5spd, I need to call to find out. If it isn't I am going to try to get the price down the cost of the 5spd swap so I don't loss because of the auto. Since I want to swap out the engine anyway, does it really matter that it has been rebuilt?

I can basically get any 240sx as long as the body is in good shape, correct?

depends on who rebuilt it dude. If it's been rebuilt it should be almost as good as new! I'd do a compression check on it to make sure, but if you're swapping soon it should be good to go. Make sure you find out why he's selling.

If your gonna swap the engine.... wow great deal.

As long as the body is straight and it doesn't have any major probs go for it.

Yeah I am going to call tomorrow and see if the chasis has been messed with. I don't want to buy a rebuilt chasis. That is really the only thing I should look for huh? Any bad body damage, in any accidents and if the chasis has been worked on?

Is there any way I can tell when I get the car if the seller lied to me about any of the questions regarding accidents? I know the VIN# on the body panels but what about chasis? Well I guess if teh chasis was rebuilt then the VIN# on the bumper and such won't be there due to replacing those because of the accident. Correct me if I am wrong.

The only bad thing is, is that it is a private seller and I don't know if they will ship it for me.
