paint or swap

I have big plans for my 240 when I get it and I just want to get things straight so when I get it soon I have a list of what to do first. I want to swap out the engine and paint the entire car a different color unless I get a color I like which wouldn't probably happen because I can't find any 240 anywhere. So when I repaint it I want to do it right and repaint everything, the door sills, inside trunk and engine bay.

So if I swap the engine myself I could remove the engien and all otehr parts, paint it and then swap the new engine in. So thats not a problem. If I have someone else do the swap, what should I do first. Could I take outthe engine and paint it then tow the car to the shop? It doesn't make too much sense swapping it then taking the new engine out and repainting it.

someone help me

Take the engine out....paint it, then do the swap or send it out for someone to do it. Hopefully the shop wont mess up the paint

Should I take everything out, paint it and put everything back in so the shop that does the swap can take everything out they need to?

Should I take everything out, paint it and then put back everything but the engine and ship the car to the shop?

Should I take everything out, paint it and send everything to the shop except the engine so they can put everything in plus the new engine?

Or if you think of another way to do it that is the best let me know. I can always email the shop

Take out everything, put everything back in except the engine and ship it off. My friend did that and they took off a couple hundred off the price of the installation since they didnt have to take out the orginal engine/trans

Thats what I did.... I stripped the whole car, windows and interior. Sent it out to get painted and brought it back home to install the engine.......

How much did the painting cost you? I am sure a lot less than if the shop were to strip everything.

What did you strip? Everything so all that was left was teh body or did you leave something on?
