is it a silvia?

if you have a 240, and you do a S13 front, and SR20DET swap, do you think its appropriate to call it a silvia? some people say no, but I say its much better that saying "240 with silvia swap"

Doesn't a Silvia have some suspension upgrades though?

well, yeah, a silvia may have better suspension, but o well. If it looks like a silvia, drags like a silvia, and and handles alot LIKE a silvia, its a silvia.

and badges will probably be a topic of controversy, since some people say that it finishes the package, and some say that its just an absolute waste of money. and some may say that its a form of.... RICE!

The way I look at it you can call it a Silvia if it's a coupe w/ the Silvia front body panels, and SR20DET. If it's a hatch then it's a Sil80 ('cause Sil40 sounds weird).

To me rice is putting cheap parts on your car so it will be low, loud, and "stand out from the croud" even though it blends in to the rice croud. Also true rice usually ends up having less power than stock, and handling worse than stock while having a rougher ride than a dedicated track car. (a la 4 in. exhaust on a stock engined civic with cut springs) Oh and covering your car with APC stickers really doesn't help it image either.

The differeances between a 240sx w/ a silvia front end and SR20DET, and a authentic Silvia K's are negligable. The only really noticable ones are the full frame rail on the passenger side of the 240 (you can all that Alex Chang for that observation), and the fact that the Silvia is RHD. So if someone make thier car look like a Silvia and run like a Silvia they can call it a Silvia.

Edit: Just saw your other post and FYI Bomex IS Japanese. Also remember that many Japanese parts come over here under different names. For example Trust = GReddy, Buddy Club = Kosei, et cetra.

GReddy is also the only name that TRUST parts are sold under in the US. For example I want to get the TRUST DD exhaust for my car, so I'll either have to get it from Japan, or get the GReddy DD. BTW does anyone know of a US distributor of Bride seats?

The only rim company I'm sure about is Buddy Club. They are sold as Kosei over here. Take a look at the Buddy Club P1 and the Kosei K1

Wink

Hey "battlestylespl" I take offense to being thought of as Rice.;-)
Nothing ricey about my Bomex Sup if you were to see it in person,
I assure you...Check for yourself: http://www.webshopllc.com/swedemix/

Anyhow, what are the rims in your opinion that qualify as rice?

p.s. Sup RC!
