So the weirdest thing happened today...
Ok, I might be crazy...but the last time I checked...the cooling fan on the KA24DE is supposed to stay bolted onto the car. I was driving down the freeway and heard a loud crunching sound and then something was dragging. I pulled over..popped the hood and the friggin fan was caught right on my front swaybar. I'll post pics tomorrow...maybe someone can help explain why this happened.

I limped the car home 20 miles with the hood popped up a little to keep the temps down. After closer inspection there was a ton of grease and absolutely NONE of the bolts that hold the fan to the base. It looks like the fan coupling split in half and the back half is still attached to the fan pulley.

this happend to me last summer it was caused by a bad fan clutch putting to much stress on the fan so it cracked the plastic fan then finally it gave and blew up, mine went into a million pieces all over my engine bay good thing no engine damge was done by it. if you dont replace the fan clutch after it has gone bad it can make your waterpump fail also from putting to much stress on it. correct me if im wrong on any part but thats what happend to me hope that helps

clutch was seized, fan spun with the pulley causing my car to sound like a 18wheeler.
yanked the fan and clutch off and havent had a problem since.
i've been meaning to rewire the stock electric fan to run all the time, but i've just been putting it off. never had a problem with overheating.

zenki24de you are correct in what you said... and the fan clutch going out can damage the water pump over time...
the thing about electric fans is you will free up lost power in the motor... less drag on the motor... yes a fan pulls or pushes air to cool the radiator and helps with cooling the motor as well... as long as the electric fan moves enough air it will cool your radiator just fine... some wire it up to come on all the time... other wire it to the factory ac fan wires... others use a temp switch to work the fan... it all depends on how you want it to work...
