SOHC, is it worth it?????

I went out and just bought a 240sx without any research, come to find out that I bought the SOHC (damn). I was wondering is it worth it to fix up the SOHC or should I sell the car and buy a DOHC. Please give me some numbers on the SOHC that tuners did and some positive feed back.

SOHC's are awesome, what kind of numbers you looking for? If you dont like the SOHC you could always throw in the KA24DE.

Maybe some horsepower #'s, E.T's. I see that they have the same amount of torque as the DOHC and thats whats matters to me.

Don't the DOHC and the SOHC have basically the same horsepower?

Sohc is 140 and DOHC is 155. Not that much of a difference.

SOHC is pretty nice. I got one. Some ppl do fix it up cuz they either have no other choice, they have some kind of passion linked between them n their car, some do it to be a lil different, etc. But overall watever u fix up, wether it being SOHC or DOHC, make sure u know wat u want. For me, I'm sticking with SOHC cuz i wanna try something a lil different.
I dont mean to change the subject, but I heard somewhere that when some ppl Turboed their SOHC engines that it works better then the DOHC engine under higher compressions. Can anyone confirm if that is true or possible? I think i heard it somewhere from this forum.

SOHC FOR LIFE!

I have an SOHC right now.. I plan on doing a RB20DET swap in the future =] I mean, you can get a DOHC for like 300 bucks. No need to sell the car and do that shiz. You can part out the SOHC on this forum and then buy like exhaust or something

it all depends on what you plan on doing to the car. Is it gonna be a daily driver? track it here and there. Drift mobile? etc. here's the forum for the pros and cons. If you searched there's plenty of info on it. I'm bored enough to find you a thread. Go do some searching!

i know the turbo manifold for the sohc motor runs 350... i also know that the lil sohc motor is a strong runner... build what ya got if ya cant afford anything else... i know that the head on the sohc responds better to porting and polishing than the dohc head... the oil system sometimes bites *** but as far as volume and pressure the sohc motor has better oil control thatn the dohc motors...
i will give you a few pointers on the sohc motor tho... as soon as the timing chain starts makin noise replace it or you will end up rubbing a hole into the timing chain cover behind the water pump and mixing the oil with water...
if you plan on going for power outta the motor... upgrade the oil pump drive spindle and drive gear... that makes the oiling system almost bullet proof...
i got an idea... build one as far as you can just to see how much power you can get outta it... individual throttle bodies turbo with a custom surge tank... and stand alone ecu...

Dude, a 240 is a 240. It is the car that is <3. Not the engine. As long as it can drift, I will love my S13!
