Alright, I have a question to ask. When I put my car in reverse/start off driving it sounds like something is rattling. I am almost 80% sure it is the heat cover for the catalyic converter and I tightened the bolts and it stopped for a bit and started up again. Could it be anything else.

 

Yeah, I have the same problem on my 93 convertible.

 

me too... but mine sounds like a quick popping.... hmm... maybe it's rattling...

 

mines comes from the brake pads being loose, when i last changed them there is a metal guide your supposed to keep but i tossed mines not knowing any better so now the brakes rattle and slide around when i go in reverse.

Its the shield for the cat... I had the exact same problem. Just rip it off you don't really need it unless you bottom out a lot.

 

yeah if it is the heat shield the bolts are prolly stripped or warped from the constant heat expansion. if yours pop's you might have throwout bearing or shift fork issues
