What kind of car do you want to get historical car status for? Or were you just asking?

 

a '95 240sx... with a JDM engine...

 

What ever state you live in would back it's registration. I just used Cali as an example, but DMV follows pretty much the same rules from state to state.
I've been looking into this for my Datsun 510, I don't want cops fuC%in with me and impounding my car........

 

Won't work it's not smog exempt and won't be for 30years since it's production date.......

 

so from this date smog exempt is 1975 and older.....like vinnie said, 30yr old car or older

 

All i know is that i had a 93 civic with a b18B engine and they didn't just "glance" at it. All you have to do is look at the block and there is a B18b1 sign etched in the block. Smog guys will looks at that and say "no". Simple as that.

Taking it to referee was an option but i've researched that and found it wasn't as simple as paying a fee. Everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, had to be in working order and everything stock, EVERYTHING, must be on the original engine. Those referee guys are so supposed to be meticulous about everything and building a stock b18b that barely passed smog anyway wasn't worth it for me.

At least that's what i've researched for my old honda.
