I think the new redesign is to address the problems that are going on with many of the older KA and the guides falling off. I think it is worth getting the new design rather than mess with the older one if your willing to tackle the job properly.

the olny noticable improvement to the kit is the driverside guide. it used to be made entirely out of plastic. now it is a metal guide with plastic outer guides. when i pulled out my sh#t it was completly destroyed. completely(if you didn't read it the first time).
get it from Courtesy if you want but i got mine for way cheaper. i didn't get the water pump but then again i've never heard a water pump fail on the KA engine. go to

Rudeboy, aren't all those parts aftermarket OEM. I guess if they do the job then cool, but i myself am a fan of the Nissan Factory stuff when it comes down to things like that. Just seen too many of the aftermarket products be not as worthy as the real geniune products IMHO.

i was under the impression that the part #'s were the same. but on the sohc engine you'll be glad you had em. the old lit i took off was tore up and my engine olny had like 74,000 miles. the bolts were chewed up the guides/tensioner, and sprockets were all worn.

the new design is nissans, i just got it from that place.
