Does anybody know what the symptoms of a bad TPS are?

a throttle position sensor? we have those? if so, why?

um rough idle, high idle, rich mixture...in order to check you need to do actual voltage checks at the sensor signal and sensor reference voltage, at idle it should be .5v at wide open throttle it should be 4.5v
