i did find by searching that with any swap done onto a car it wont pass smog? even if its the USDM KA24DE? The ka24de put into the '89 is all stock no mods n ****...so ya...if anyone can help me out thx...

i have never done a swap from d to de but passing smog should be preaty general when doing your resheach find out all the details for example did it have the ka24de computer and wires and if so theres many reasons why it may not pass like cats vacum system so on and so on if its a straigt swap i would have a hard time thinking that the engine would go through any transformations, mine didn't pass smog at one point then i came to find out that the previous owner guted the cat and welded the shell back on once i put a high flow cat on the car passed and by the way de is way better than d good luck

If it is installed correctly and everything is in working order, it will pass smog.
