Question VG30DETT fit in a 91-94 240?

I was just wondering if a VG30DETT (2nd gen 300ZX) engine would fit in a 91-94 240SX? I have a 92 fastback and I saw a VG30 and trans for sale for $1850 with all the hardware, wiring, ecu, etc. and would love to put it in the 240. Supposedly it has around 280 hp and 285 lb-ft of tq so that would be pretty great for a fast daily driver. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

from what i have read on here, the engine will fit, however there is not enough room for 2 turbos. 1 turbo will fit. though they make kits to relocate the turbo out of the engine bay and put it in place of the cat.

You can make it fit and it has been done. I personally wouldn't do it because it is a pretty tough swap and requires alot of custom fabbing, I'd much rather do an LSx swap over the VG30

LS 350 FTW!

lighter, cheaper and produces more (NA) power than a a VG swap.

Thanks I was just trying to see how hard the swap would be and Im not really trying to a lot of custom fabbing so I probably will pass on the deal. And I dont think I would put the LS in the 240 just cuz i want to keep it Nissan. I would love the RB20 or SR20 but I was just curious if any other some-what easy swaps would give me more power than those two for somewhere around the same price. Im only a senior in high school so I dont have an over abundance in cash flow.

RB25DET is probably the best bang for the buck you can get, but on the other hand, you can be guaranteed that any SR20 parts will fit the 240sx chassis.

RB20 is trash

whats wrong with your KA?

There is nothing wrong with the KA right now but it has a lot of miles on it, about 177,xxx so I think its time for a new powerplant. Why do you think the RB20 is trash? I was just considering that because you can buy them off ebay from importers for like a 1000 less than the SR20 so it sounded like a good deal.
And I like the SR20 but I kind of wanted something a little out of the ordinary.
And would the RB25 go in w/o a lot of custom fab?

well the RB20 and RB25 would require the same amount of custom fabrication if you decide to custom fab everything. there ARE however engine swap kits available for the RB into S chassis. the Rb20 dosent make any kind of decent power stock, and dosent have the potential of the RB25 or even the Sr20.

since i have personally never done the swap before, here is a writeup from zilvia on the topic.

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...highlight=RB25

there are swap "kits" available that pretty much eliminate all custom fabrication nessesary.

i would say about $4000-$4500 for everything.

I think a vg30dett would be sick. My friend has a n/a 300zx, that he swapped a vg30dett into and ran 13.65 bone stock. Then we went to the dump and weighed our cars, mine weighed 2800lbs (s13 silvia) with me in it and his weighed 3565lbs with him in it. There is a lot of weight diff, i think that would pretty much be low 13's stock. and its unique

Yeah, really sick!!!!!!!!!!

Please do not double post, I erased your other post and just put what you said in the previous post. Also please resize your sig, it is way too big.
