i searched this and couldnt come up with anything, i remember somebody posting vin number on how to tell if your car has superhicas or lsd by the first couple digits or somethin. does anybody no the vin numbers??

 

I'm pretty sure that if you look on the firewall theres a metal plate with some numbers on it.

If you have LSD there wont be any dashes on the number, but if you see dashes, it doesn't have lsd.

I could be wrong about that, but thats what I've heard, I have dashes and no LSD... so...

 

first jack up the rear

to check hicas, look under the car for a steering rack on the back (duh)

to check lsd, give a tire twirl. if both spins the same direction you have lsd. if they spin opposite you have open diff

what if you spin and only one spins, the other doesnt move at all?

I don't see why they would move in opposite directions anyway, but you MIGHT be right

With the car OUT of GEAR, spin one, if they both go the same, then LSD

With the car IN GEAR, spin one, if the other goes the opposite direction, then LSD

Also, do burnout, if both tires spin, LSD

Also, this may be helpful....I checked it, and sure enough it worked in my case (From NissanInfiniti Forums):


Find the car's identification plate on the firewall, passenger side.

Check digit 18 in the model # (not the VIN!).

For Feb '94 - July '95: A, C, or E, = LSD

F, or "-" = NO LSD

For July '95 - July '96: A, C, or F = LSD

B, D, or "-" = NO LSD


I don't know if it's wrong or not, I just know that it DID work out in my case
