Water is getting in through hole in back right fender?

There is a hole that is about 1.5 inches wide and 6 inches long that goes into the back right inside of the car. I noticed water was getting into the car somehow and I dropped my flashlight into the little area where the sidemarker is at, and I could see the light from it from underneath the car. The hole is about 3 inches or so from the wheel well, so it must get water splashed into it when I let the wheels spin in the rain...

Is there supposed to be a plastic guard that keeps water from getting inside the car? Is there a way to keep water from getting inside the car?

this 1 is tough to think about i need some better pictures, i honestly have not heard of anything covering the back wells as you know there are ones for the front but nothing for the back. Im wondering how it got there? any rust or w/e..? noticable cracks etc... wish i could help you... leaks suck *** its like the worst problem, causes rust pain in the *** moisture arge. Let me know more details i see if i can match it on my car and tell you whats going on.

there should be rubber cover with a slit on the bottom.and tab on top to take it out. its a drainage hole. but water shouldnt be able to splash up from there. if anything you have a leak some where in your trunk. pull off all the trunk lining and spray the hatch and tail lights with water and check for leaks.

Yeah, its definitely not rusted out or anything. I guess I'm just missing that rubber piece. But water has been getting into the car from there because the water is always right next to that area in the back.
