Waterpump ?

my s13 leaks a lot of coolant...or shall i say water because i've been putting water in it just because it tends to leak a lot when i start the car....i tried looking to see where it leaks from and i thought it was coming from this hose...so i took it off and it was all good....so i put it back on...it leaks a lot when the car is on and i can't see where it's coming from....do i need a new waterpump? or is it something else?

you have to keep looking for a leak.

If it was the water pump it would leak from under neath the pump. (there is a small whole that leaks when the pump is bad).

keep checking, take pictures post them and continue checkking.

in fact, go check right now. start the car, and LOOK look loOK!

GOOD LUCK!

That is most likely the problem. Like Z said, look to see where its leaking from.

does it squeak at all?, Most times if the water pump is leaking from the weep hole the bearings have gone bad. In which case the water pump would make a squeak or squeal while the motor is running. Sorry I understand this thread is a few days old now hopefully you already have it fixed

there's no need to apologized when providing pertinent information. although the pump tends to sound more like a can of marbles than squeak or squeal when the bearings fail. also what when a leak is present it's not the bearings that have failed but a seal within the pump.

Well it is normal when replacin the termostat to replace the gasket along with it. I would do a thorough check ofthe housing while you have it apart to make sure thee are no cracks. Be sure to clean the mating surfaces of the housing and the engine so that when installing the new thermostat and gasket with some sealant (just enough to cver the surface of the gasket) to make sure that is doesn't leak at the gasket.

right above and to the left of the thermostat you have a few coolant lines and sensors on the intake manifold, all of which could leak.
