well, better me to tell you then one of the bigdogs you Newbie...... but when your going to ask about somthing that has to do with your motor, you should give a little more info then, ( I have a 240sx )....and your pic is not the best at telling us if it was a E or a DE.......

Anyways back on topic.....i cant say right off the bat, but it looks like it is important, ill search and see what i can find, if you dont get any good info....PM ( BigVinnie ) He Knows ALL..... send him the pic and your question....

^^ lol you guys can't tell.

I'm not sure exactly WHAT it is, but if you open your hood and you look at your intake box. It comes off the far side, near the wheel well. It is held on my a little metal clamp and a screw.
When you put an intake in, that either gets removed or repositioned.
Not too sure.

sorry for being brash .. i know nsn doesn't have a 240 , so he doesn't spend much time under the hood.

They all have the same stock intake setup. doesn't matter what year or model. There are only two
Ka24e and Ka24de
I have an e you guys have de. They all have that same little box.

One of the big dogs will see this post and tell you.

hey now ! as soon as i find the car, it's mine (searchin everyday)... but i do spend plenty of time under other people's hoods i thought it had something to do with the airbox, but wasnt sure if it was required or not.

People who have a 240sx Could you tell me if I can take it out or reposition it? Where would it get repositioned? Does anyone know for sure what it is?

Its your AIV, its there for emission purposes, but it can be removed and you have to plug all the lines, as for passing emissions without it I can't tell you because I still have mine in there
