i got a 1990 240sx hatchback with 136,000 miles on it. I have read that the sr20det won't pass emissions in nc. i want to know what you guys would do buy a ka24de with low miles and turbo it or try to find another engine that will pass emissions in nc. if i were to buy a ka how many miles should i look for it to have. thanks

Sr20 motors will not pass emissions and I think that a turbo KA will not pass unless the kit is smog legal. You would have to check with comapnies that make a kit for the KA like www.nsport.com to see if their kit is smog legal.

 

sr motors wont pass emissions here in ny right ? so why do so many people have them ? do they get hooked up on the low ?

who said you cant pass inspection ?
u can always pass inspection if you put high octane gas and go to a private station pay a couple extra bucks and you get a sticker
not that i have a sticker on my sr yet ( dont have a sr ) but comeon you wanna tell me that all them old cars/vans/trucks smoking all over the roads are good and passed inspection
