What Setup?

I am going to have some form of forced induction under the hood of my S14 by March. My problem is I cant decide which form. For $2800 I can either get the Greddy Kit for the KA24DE or i can get the S14 Blacktop(Engine Tranny ECU) or I can get the S13 Red Top Front Clip. I have been racking my brain trying to decide but I just cant. I heard negative things about each of these setups but in the end, it seems like the kit seems te safer bet. I recently got my S14 from my Dad and before he gave it to me, he had the entire engine overhauled at Nissan. the Mileage was just over 100,000 when he did it, which is why I'm second-guessing swap out the engine. I was thinking that since all the components of the KA24DE are new and dealership parts , running the kit should be fine since I only plan on running 7-10psi at the absolute most. im only aiming for mid to low 14s so im not looking for huge horsepower. I just want a street warrior that I can also drive to work and home without having to worry if it is going to start when i go outside. Anyway, I'm just looking for some input as to what you guys would do if you were in my position.

Whew... Your question puts you right in the middle of a rock and a hard place... I know this sounds lame but my suggestion is to browse this forum and find out as much as you can about each of the options you have posted to find which one is for you.
Personally I would turbocharge the KA24DE. I don't have the link with me but I have seen dyno slips of a KA24DE-T which has produced 530 at the wheel horsepower. That's seems to be far above what your planning to do with your engine, so I would think it would be more than efficient to get to your goals. Also if you buy an SR20 (Depending on the Seller) you might get a bad motor, it might take a long time to ship, the engine probably won't be emissions testing approved, you have a whole mess of problems that you can fall into. Not that SR20 engine transplants are the hardest things to do in the world, but I would just rather avoid all the possible pitfalls.

Get the Greedy kit ,the kit is capable of pushing 280whp with no modifications,it will give you less headaches at the end,it takes no time to install if it done by a professional, from what I understand its Carb Approved, and ur car would be emissions legal right of the bat.Plus if ur engine was overhauled as long as u dont f*ck up that much with the boost you should be able to have some happy boosted long *** mile on that thing, well anything that u decided happy motoring

if the engine has been rebuilt, turbo it. cause at that point your just wasting pops money on the rebuild, if you get a used sr motor. more torque with a ka anyway. good for the street.

i would go with the turbo kit as well... you still have the ability to push the kit into the higher horsepower range with simple tweeks to the system...as far as the card smog legality of the kit check again because as it turns out the kit is not all smog legal...as for ease of installation i will give it to greddy for designing the kit that kicks much ***... even the average person can install the kit in less than 5 hours...

Negatron - he's got a 1995, which isn't CARB or even covered by the Greddy application due to OBD stuffs

The GReddy kit requires a OBD 2, which is found in a 96-98 240sx. But a 95 is OBD 1

Like Kaion1000 said, our 1995's are OBD-1.

Question

So if someone decides to buy a Greedy turbo kit for a 95 Nissan S14 would it still work properly?

Yes it will still work - but on a 1995 it's said that you'd have to get the Greddy E-01 to retune the Fuel Management (E-Manage) to work with the 1995 OBD-1 ECU... and as far as legalities go, this would technically void the whole CARB thing.

But hey... it will work
