What are these called?
Hello, i was cleaning up my sr and i noticed that i had an oil leak around my oil filter. Upon closer inspection, it wasnt the oil filter that was leaking, it was leaking between the block and the little thing that the oil filter screws too. I unbolted it, and there are 2 rubber O rings that appear to be leaking. I need to find out where i can get these o rings and what are they called. here are pics.
heres where the oil filter screws too. (dont know what its called)

heres the other side, and you can see the 2 special rubber o rings im talking about

and here are a more detail picture of the o rings.

Clean it all up real good. Put a good quality RTV(ultra copper works great as goes the grey) around the rings & put that ***** back on. Let it set for about an hour, then run the car.
Or go to a dealership & get oil filter housing o-rings. Should be about $5 each.
But I use RTV on ALOT of those o-rings & never have problems with them leaking oil again. Just torque it down properly.

if you decide to use a sealant instead of buying new o rings just make sure not to use too much as you might hinder the oil from circulating and cause something far worse than just a leak.
thanks for the info. yeah ill probably just use sealant and just be very careful that i dont get any of it in the oil passage. i dont have a fsm for my sr, ive been looking but i havent found a link that works. if anyone could tell me the proper torque spec for the oil filter housing bolts, it would be much appreciated. thanks again.

There is the part number you need...15066-5E510 They are about $3.20 from the dealer. You need to order two. I would do this as it is not much more than a tube of RTV, plus you KNOW you are replacing with good part that will not leak.
As for the torque. I use the good & tight method. But I always recommend using proper torque. You can talk with a tech at the dealer & they should give it to you.

They are the same ones on the KA. Any dealer should have them in stock. If not, it should only take them 2 days to get them in. If I am not mistaken there is a Parts distributor in Atlanta, so if you order in the morning it should be there by E.O.D.
