Why are you guys so obsessed with wheel offset?

I have 17x8 +40 and my wheels sit perfect on my s-14. Most of you would consider than a high offset. So why buy a lower offset and run spacers when spacers are unsafe?

just preference i guess. I buy wheels because of their performance rather than looks. light, cheap, wide, and fitment on stock body are my requirements

I really dont understand the deal with offsets, seems like when someone post a pic of their car with aftermarket wheels on it, first thing people on here say is "weak offsets" I mean really I'd run +40 on any set of wheels on my s14. The factory 16's are +40, so how is that high offset considered too high ?

Im just wanted to know why would you purposely order wheels with a 30 offset then use spacers instead of just ordering a higher offset the first time.

Hahah you got +40....thats a weakoffset. You got offset completely confused. +30 offset stick out farther than +40offset, why would you need spacers for +30, you would need a bigger spacer for +40. Why dont you do some research before you open your mouth.

have you seen stock wheels? they are sunken in like a ****. the obsession isnt with off set its with tsu-ra-ichi. it means Paper thin we want our wheels as flush as possible. if u dont care about being flush thats fine its your car but dont come here expecting us to like somthing we work so hard not to have lol.

also no +40 offset wheel is flush on any 240 and thats a fact

i had 15x8 -58 on my old 240.

fifteen by eight, negative fifty eight.

and am currently running 17x10.5 +19

soon to be -23 (yes, negative twenty three).

remember, wheel offset is relative to width, so you cant exactly go around running +40 if you go any wider than 7j. (my 10.5j +27 hit the inside of the wheel well with about 4-5* of camber)

Offset is everything, I ain't talking crap, if I was talking crap I would say something like "your 240sx looks like a spaceship". I have no problem with people and there offset preferences. The new title to this post should be "why are you so obsessed with knowing why people are obsesses with offset"

generally spacers aren't needed on lower offset wheels. i think you have it backwards. something like your wheels would need a spacer... or a trash can.
