Window Motor

My driver side window has started to make this really annoying ticking noise, and every once in a while it wont role up right away. I have to push the button up and down a few times before i can get it to go. Have any of you replaced the motor? Is it hard to do?

If the window tends to drop when the Tick is heard. Your gearing is bad. Very simple yet a bit involved for gear and motor replacement and alignment.
Just plan an afternoon or morning on your knees and have a few shop towels for the grease and road dirt.

I dont think the window is dropping, but then again I always drive with my windows down. Ill leave it up and check it out. I am thinkin you are right Rude, its probably just the switch, but then what is making the ticking noise?

The button being bad could make the window tick but that would be heard at the motor.

If you hear a skipping or a clicking check the gears.

Best bet is to take the door panel off and operate the window. That way you can watch to see what is hanging up and hear where the noise is coming from.

The ticking occurs when the window is down. So wouldnt that possibly rule out gearing? Unless the motor is still running I guess, so that could be due to the switch right? Either way I will tear the door off next weekend and check it out.
