Wire Short

Well today I put my starter back in and tried to start my car smoke started coming from the ecu so jumped out of the car and disconected the bat. I went to look at the the ecu expecting the worse but it looks like a wire short and the wire didnt even go to the ecu.

the blue arrow is the wire from the harness that goes past the ecu to the wire by the red arrow, i need to know where the black wire goes in the engine bay(I think its a ground but not sure).

Thanks

well that all depends on where the wire is comming from
you have a picture of a black wire on the floor of your car.

Its from the main wiring harness that goes through the wire wall to the ecu, and its the only black wire that goes from the engine bay(in the harness) past the ecu. I need to know where it is coming from or where it goes.

Thanks

when i say "where the wire is comming from" i mean to say, what is the other end of that wire attached to?
as a ground wire, it's either attached to a ground already and you need to attach the free end to a component to supply a ground to that component.
if it is attached to a component already, then you just need to attach the lose end to a grounding point.

you're just going to have to trace the wire back.
you cant possibly expect anyone to tell you where a black wire sitting on your floor is comming from.
