Question Relieving Fuel System Pressure

Soo... I'm a total noob at this removing an engine thing. The supposed trusty Chilton's manual tells me "CAUTION:... fuel pressure must be released before the fuel lines can be disconnected" AFTER telling me to removing the battery and the radiator. I then realize in order to relieve the fuel system pressure, my car must be able to start DOH!. My questions are.. do i have to relieve the pressure? if i do, is there another way? and what happens if i dont?

I'm planning to replace a ka24e motor in a 89 240sx

i just connect a 9v battery to a cut pigtail for the injectors. i do this to each injector for about 3 sec each and call it good. there will still be some pressure but nothing to worry about.

1. open gas tank.
2. remove fuel pump fuse
3. crank engine 3-4 time
4. done

has never failed me in all my years.. so fuel rails such as honda, have a pressure release valve which makes it a little easier...
