Your best and safest way to tow your car 688 miles is to get a car trailer , not a tow dolly. That would be the smartest and safest decision.

Ok so we are leaving now, and the car is on the dolly with the front wheels on the ground and the steering locked straight. Wish us luck, I will post again in Austin and hopefully the 40 makes it!!!!!

Ok we made it to beaumont with only one problem 2 hours into the trip one of the front tires on the 40 blew out but i saved it!!!! Had to drop and leave the dolly on the side of the road to go to the nearest exit goto walmart pay 72 bucks for a 195 60 15 which is what was on the other front tire...blah blah blah some po dunk redneck tire place charged me 21.00 to mount and balance 1 tire!!! WTF anywho So far so good 488 miles so far with nuthin more than a blow out. Hint. Dont go over 65! In the mornin we will finish the other 200 or so miles......

Thats price for mounting the tire sounds about right. Why didnt you just have WalMart do it though?

P.S. was the tire that blew out a directional tire?

Walmart wouldve done it for 3.50 but I needed to get back on the road asap and there wouldve been liked 6 people I wouldve had to wait after. And the tire wasnt a directional just dry rotted. I couldve gotten a used 215 but when the guy showed it to me it looked too big to go under the front of the car..so i just got what the rest of the rims are 195s

Well we made it sunday around noon....I decided I wanna sell the 40. Im in Austin so it should go quick....I just purchased a 89 coupe yesterday from a chick who didnt realize what the car was worth..all it needs is an alternator. What a ****ing deal!!!!!!!!!!! now I have two 40s sitten in the driveway. I heart the coupe though....the hatch has got to go. BTW I would say when towing Rear wheels on the dolly front wheels locked in the straight ahead position. You wont have any problems at all. As I didnt (cept) for the blowout. And I traveled 700 miles. Check the for sale forum. The hatch is up for sale
