240sx Engine Missing

240sx Engine Missing

Okay My old 240 which im probably gonna be buying back.The engine is missing alot to where it stutters and sounds like its about to shut off, i was guessing it was probably the spark plugs or wires or something and easy fixer .do you guys think it would be the spark plugs or spark plug wires?

Check the timing. get a timing light

You need an ohm meter to check the wires for the correct resistance. Plugs? Maybe. Are they the right type and gapped properly?Those would be the easy things to check. Could be throttle body and a whole bunch of other things. Try to get a hold of a repair manual and start by searching in the troubleshooting section. Vacume leaks, timing just a few more things. If the sputtering occurs within idle it could be your IACV (Idle Air Control Valve). The ecu doesn't throw codes on it necesarrily so it is kind of hard to tell if that could be the case. Make shure all your electrical is good first. Then use carb cleaner to try and clean the IACV.
If it isn't that then check your fuel pressure.

Well when i had it before the vacum line kept d/c so that might be what it is im gonna go look at it and all and see if thats it if not im gonna take it to a friend of mine whos a mechanic he should be able to tell me whats wrong with it
