92 240sx Fuel problems
Hi, I'm not that skilled of a mechanic, But I have little money too.
I have a 92 240sx LE. And there was a constant gasolene smell that entered the cockpit. I found out there was a hole on the intake nozzle in the fuel pump. Hole the size of a pin tip. I managed to weld it shut as well as sodder a broken wire back on the fuel guage wireing and coated it with silicone to protect it.
Now the problem
a) My guage does not work anymore, It constantly shows empty and does not move.
b) Now the fuel intake hose has a tear in it, so fuel is leaking out and smells worse.
There's no way to 'Bandage' the tear in the hose. So it has to be replaced. However does anyone know if the fuel tank has to be removed or can it be done with it still connected? And float seemed fine, so does anyone have any ideas on the fuel guage problem too?

take out the tank. It is VERY simple to do. It gives you much more room to work with. It is safer & now is a EXCELLENT time to clean out the inside of the tank.
BTW welding/soldering around a tank with fuel in it isnt the smartest thing in the world.

And I can't figure out why my guage has stopped working.

i dont really remember my auto electic class much but i know we used a little ohms machine (dont remember the name) what it does is it give it alot of resistance to see if the gauge would move or not. If it doesnt move, then the gauge is busted and you should buy a used/new one. I'm not really much help but i hope that helped you from a mechanic newbie like myself
