i replaced the filter in my parents subaru and it made a huge difference. that thing was so dirty. i relpaced my intake on my 96 with a hotshot and an hks filter. if it gets dirty i just spray it with foam filter cleaner and wash it out. oh and my 89 only has 65k on it

I would save the money and get a drop in filter. You won't feel that much of a difference.

really? What's the REAL difference between a regular $15 drop-in filter and a $45 K&N Drop-In filter?

I thought the Air Intake Kit would draw more air into the engine and is more effective than getting the K&N Drop-In filter. Please explain and correct my assumptions.

Well for one thing, a $15 drop in will have to be replaced every 15K miles anyways.

The K&N is re-usable. It has a slightly better design for a tad bit more flow. You can actually take the filter out, and clean it and re-use it, without it ever breaking or anything.

The thing about our cars is.. we have this stupid
turn signal indicator ----> airbox HOSE
this dumb pipe that's supposed to act as ram air, but really doesn't do **** but restrict air and elongate piping.

You probably haven't taken it out yet. Basically if you take it out, you have a nice big hole in your airbox that is about as good as any open filter element. Not bad for a DIY.

Anyways, intakes don't do much as it is... so it's not really worth the money.

If you want a set up that will help a LOT. You can relocate your battery to the trunk, and get piping that extends from your throttle body to the area where you had your battery. (that includes relocating the MAF too.. duh)

My friend did that on his car, it was kind of a hack up job.. but shiiit.. it had GOOD throttle response.

If you really want a filter badly, just get an Ebay filter (CAI, Shortram, filter, whatever).. they're all the same, just a metal pipe and filter.
u don't need an INJEENN or AA-EEE-EHMMM

good luck
