Alternator Relay?

I am going to go look at this car today that I am interested in buying.
Its a 92 S13 with a KA. The guy says it runs but it needs a new Alternator Relay, and in my 5 or so years of working on cars Ive never heard of such a thing.
Does anybody have a clue what he means?

he must be BS-ing you.
best i can come up with is a faulty voltage regulator that would be linked to the alternator, or just a faulty alternator itself. or even a dead battery.
