cam tower wear
so as some of you know i bent a valve recently. i have an engine lying around so to same some time i've decided to just swap the head after doing a few things to it. but i found that the cam towers are somewhat damaged, the damage looks like a bit more than a surface but not much more.
with a straight edge i check the clearance with a feeler gauge and i don't remember what thickness i used but it was thiner than the gauge i used to check flatness on the surface. i'm confident that this will not cause any ill affect but i just need a second opinion.

so are you going to get this thing machined and cute?
Please say yes and do The SOHC right, you are like the only dude repping for the SOHC performance! lets see this thing do something

well see here's the problem. the cam i got did not require the towers to be machined, had i expected this i would have gone with the more aggressive profile that would require the towers to be machined.
the rest of the head is in perfect condition and doesn't need to be machined. i looked for some tolerance specs for the wear but i can't find any. i think i will be ok to use this head after i clean it up and check the valves and stuff to mack sure it's all good.
the good thing is that i don't drive my 240 in the winter much because of the ice and snow so i have time to think things over.
