chain guide

When the upper timing chain guide breaks off and falls into the engine? where does it usually end up? in lower chain cover, oil pain, does it fall down into a cylinder?

Usually ends up in the pan, but to get to it you need to rmove the pan . Ocasionally itll find itss way onto the valvetrain, but youd know it if that happens. I was lucky enough to remove it before it broke.

Well the ungodly noise for one, not the usual injector clicking, or chain rattle. something totally different. But thats the worst case senario. It breaks off, sometimes get caught in the front case, but usually ends up in the oil pan. Have u taken off your valve cover to see if its still there? It took me 10 minutes to pull the cover, check, and put it together again.

if it's not up top, bolted where it should be, then you should find it ASAP instead of waiting for some "clues" and such that it broke. Take the valve cover off - if it's not there and you didn't take it off before, then it fell somewhere. Use a small flashlight and look everywhere for it - it's pretty big so it shouldn't be hard to find. If you can't see it with just the valve cover and front cover removed, then chances are it's in the oilpan. Regardless, you don't want a thick piece (or peices, if it broke) of metal bouncing around in there.

well just wanted to know cuz where it went it doesn't really help me now cuz my motor is destroyed now. last week the engine over-heated. I couldn't get home. waited out 1 hour and 30 mins then drove my car home. engine kept making a loud pop sound like the sound when you are cooking pop-corn in the mircowave but this was munch louder and faster. and i could only get the car to go 15mph it wouldn't go any faster then that. so what's up with that?
