Exclamation Charging Problem

Alrite i just purchased a 1990 240 sx and when i drove it home it started to stutter around 4k rpms then as i drove further the stutter lowerd lower in the rpm range. When i got home and let it idle and check connections it died and wouldnt start again. I then jumped the car and it ran fine with cables on and bad w/o cables. I then removed my negative battery cable and it died with the car running. So i figure its the altenator. By The Way my battery light is on inside the cab. So i go thru gettin it off and gettin another altenator and putting it on. I start the car with a fresh battery and it runs fine. Fine for along time but the battery light is blinking now inside the cab, slowly. Then i checked the battery voltage at idle and it read 11.95 when i rev'd the enine to 2k it read low 10's.

When i have the high beams on and turn on the a.c. there is no power drain on the lights. But its only reading 11.95 volts at idle and 10's at 2k rpm.

I am just wondering if any one has herd of this or experienced it themselves and that any help would be greatly appreciated since this is my car to go to work in. lol

If you need to know any questions feel free to ask and i will respond when i go to work or when i get off of work (i live in eastern time zone)

thanx

this could be a long shot but i have found this problem in my own cars... my coil was going bad and drawing way too much power at higher rpm's... the ignition system was overloading and pulling 43 amps of current when i was running at rpm's above 2500... i replaced my coil wiht a new one and there was no problem after that... when i took the coil in to get it replaces... msd blaster coil they found the problem not to mention the bubbled plastic on the bottem of the coil... and gave me a new one.. i put in the new blaster coil and off i went... no more problems...

yea my 90 has alot of elec problems also. i have already gone through 3 batteries (well i am on the 3rd now) and replaced the alternator, plugs, wires, and a whole bunch of fuses..

i have to jump it to get it to run, but after its jumped the battery reads 14.26 over it and from the alternator it reads 14.2 so i know that its charging it. but if i turn the car off then try to start it again it wont start and it re-sets my clock back to 1:00. so i am clueless as to what is wrongwith it now
