oh wow dude you have to run in MODIFIED?!?! what mods do you have in your 240 that make you run in that class and not in prepared?

oh and incase it wasn't obvious from the purchase of the 225/45-17 direzza's, i have decided to stay in STS and will eventually create a "budget build STS 240" thread in here, so future people that don't have much money (like me) can make their 240 competitive in autox.

there will be 2 goals for this car:

1. to make more than 169whp and 170w-ft/lbs of torque (because from EXTENSIVE research this is the most i have ever seen an STS 240 make)

and 2. to be within less than 1 second (on course) of the 2 nationally competing '90 civic si's that run here in phoenix, az.

I still think that if you're in any Street class and you need to rely on power/weight to bring your times down, you're not a good enough driver . . . but whatever.

oh the hp/torque goal has nothing to do with autox, its just that MANY people have told me that an NA KA can NEVER make more than 170whp, and i think they are wrong, so i plan on proving it to them

but no doubt dave in any street class (excet maybe street mod) you should be able to be very competitive with little to no hp increasing mods

well as i recall vinnie proved a 169whp, but without cams, well in STS you still can't use performance cams (you can however backdate, so 240/248 cams and some SOHC pistons are allowed) so i will be doing that, along with I/H/E and under-drive pulley and light accessory pulleys, and a tune so we will have to see what all of that yields (i have to keep the a/c and the clutch fan), but i am hopin for for close to 180whp

he didn't use performance cams.. he used cams from a different model KA's

even still 169whp is a big jump from the stoch 123ishwhp.

ya i know he didn't use performance cams (i have read that thread many a time so i can be familiar with the work i want to do), and i plan on doing just a bit more than he did, which will hopefully net me that extra 11whp

oh and doesn't the KA net about 131whp stock???

Maybe new, overtime engines wear down, lose compression and power.
