make sure your turning it the right way or just drain the coolant by disconecting your lower rad hose but be careful cause it'l be messy

also, if you run a garden hose at the opening where the upper radiator hose is (basically, take both hoses off), you can effectively flush out all the old coolant and stuff without having to remove the drain plug. Just be sure to bleed the system when you refill

Drilling? I would most definately flush your system to make sure that you don't have any crap floating around in your antifreeze.

s-e-a-r-c-h for drnovascotia's writeup on how to bleed the cooling system. He did a setp-by-step; you should be able to follow it easliy.

BTW: the bleed screw and the radiator cap are two seperate things. If all you see is steam coming out of the actual bleed screw (on the intake manifold) then that's some mean air pockets you've got in there (= bad)

LOL I picture like a steam train. Hah.

bad because your enigne has a proclivity to overheat. This is after you've drained and flushed your system or during the process? I know that the first time that I did a complete flush and refill on my coolant I forgot to open the bleeder valve when I ran it for a few minutes and the engine temp start to go up high. So I whacked myself over the head with the Chiltons guide, realized I was a moron, ran the car with the bleeder valve open for about 5 min, and then all was done and accounted for.
