Trying to tune the KA24 cause of idle problems

Since i bought my 240.... i've had idle problems, like when i turn on my car i HAVE to give it gas to get it going, once its on... the idle goes a little crazy between 1200 and 800 rpms. The check engine light has been on since i bought the car so i dont know whats the deal with that. I went to a friends house that has a computer and we cleared the codes, but when i gave it gas again the light went on. Im no sure wat a compression test is, but my friend said i should do one??? wat do you guys think. I also did a Sea Foam clean on the engine to see if it was gonna help, but it didn't help the way i wanted it to. Wat else do you guys think i should do???

i would check the aiv and clean it out. That or clean inside your maf. See if that works. Sometimes gunk would get in the aiv or maf and build up, thats sometimes the prob with irratic idling.
