Help Identifying camshaft for 95 ka24de

Recently, I changed my head gasket on my ka24de. I neglected to take notice on which camshaft is the intake and which is the exhaust. Upon close examination, they both look exactly the same save for the fact that one has a green stripe on it and the other yellow. After refering to my fsm and speaking with the local Nissan dealership we were still unable to identify which was which. According to Nissan, the green and yellow do not neccesarily mean anything as each factory using their own markings to identify the cams. Furthermore, the color stripes may have been putted there by the previous owner.

Is there anyone here who has also encountered this situation and is able to shed some light on this matter?

thanks for the help,

Noventa

wouldnt the intake cam be on the side of the engine closer to the intake manifold, and the exhaust cam be on the side closer to the header???

yeah, but lets say you removed both camshafts. Now your putting it back on. Which one goes on the intake side and which shaft goes on the exhaust side?

I'm reminded of what my auto repair instructor says about me and my classmates: Drive it in, push it out.

dont just go putting the cams in and seeing what will happen. jeezus... the intake cam- the timming mark lines up the the first lobe. the exhaust cam- the timming mark is offset by 30 degrees. color doesn't mean a thing!

I have a pic of my 95 with the valve cover off. Don't know if it will help at all.
