intake manifold

intake manifold

I am changing my first headgasket in my ka24e. i've been looking around but i haven't really found what im looking for, my question is do i need to take the intake manifold to get the head off? thanks in advance

thank you! i thought that it would look so much easier to do w/ it removed. Just one more question How many bolts are there to remove, when i stand on the passenger side of the car i count 4 bolts on top and 1 on the bottom (radiator side). thanks again

i don't remember the number of bolts but there are quite a few. everything from the front of the engine needs to come off just to get to the timing chain cover, that needs to come off too.

but back to your original question, just take the upper part of the manifold off first so it will be easier to get to the bolts that attach it to the head.

it''s an easy enough job but somewhat time consuming because of all the things that need to be removed.
