Just a note, the guy is running a full standalone system with Megasquirt.

Yeah I would rather go old school with some dual mikuni's and an HKS manifold.
P.S if you want a professional ITB setup get the HKS mani, it isn't that hard to add MPI and the Hyabusa ITB's.

that is ****ing clean

well now I'm probably getting a KA24DE for free from a friend since we just went and picked him up a new one tonight

BigVinnie 10-01-2005 02:24 AM

If you guys didn't know here is an old school fact. Mikuni carbs use to be used on the suzuki bikes, now we are in the year 2005, and we still use suzuki parts that are now ITBS. How random is that....
Good things never die.......

Mikuni carbs come in 45mm, the ITB's come in 43mm....
I'd say the carbs still kick ass.

I might be picking up a sss ( 3 SU carbs from BMW) 240z from 1974 tommorrow, I'll show you guy's picks if the deal goes through. It had almost more power tghen the KA for 2.4litre's and has a faster 1/4 mile tinme for an inline 6. Old school carburation still kicks ass. It is way easier to tune than MPI.

Klutch 10-03-2005 04:05 PM

That is killer. I wonder... how much it costs. Not to mention power and changes to the KA's operation. Looks like a fun twist on the KA=)

Yeah it's also funny that you can order those ITBS for the hyabusa at $100 each, and the cupplers are $3.00, and the chopping of the mani takes a few minutes. GEEZ, what is this world coming too, a $300.00 setup sold for $610. The world is full of ignorant bliss.
I bet you the idiot that bought it doesn't even know that it doesn't work with th stock ecu. LOL

Would a Biki ROM work? Or is stand-alone a better/expensive idea?

You can retune biki rom as many times as needed it is basically OEM ECCS retunable hardware. NO eproms required, the biggest bang for your buck compared to standalone ECU's, it plugs into a USB jack for retuning. Yeah would say that it is perfect for an ITB or turbo setup.

Klutch 10-05-2005 03:17 AM

Awesome. BigVinnie, you're a valuable source of KA info=)

Klutch 10-09-2005 05:55 AM

BigVinnie, what model of HKS manifold is it? I don't see it on their website.

The Solex and HKS brand DCOE carb mani's are no longer sold. You can infact get a brand name that is still sold called SK.
You can purchase an SK from Rebello racing www.rebelloracing.com, call there number they are much more direct.
Every once and a while in the Dimequarterlys www.dimequarterly.com you will find some old school webber,HKS, and even solex DCOE type manifolds available in there want/classified adds.

Is there anything else I need (parts/info) to get a ITB setup in my car?
