Just how close are they?

You alot people talk as to how KAs are just truck motors,
however thats comeing from those who are trying to choke down the bill for theyr SR swap.

But for the rest of us who like junkyard jumpin(and money goes to rent),
how close ARE they, what will swap/change over to trucks and other nissans of the same model years??
Not just for proformance mods but for random repairs.

for random repairs most RWD KA24DE's share the same parts.

and any dohc motor will drop right into any of the trucks that were made with the sohc motor... it is kinda cool to do the swap for someone and have them love their truck all over again...

yes the motor will drop in like the 240
but with the truck you have to replace the harness with the 240sx one
truck has one harness (engine and body in one)
240 has two (engine and body)

I've heard that the pick up motors from the nissan pickups(like 90-93) had the KA24DE, but at a sligthy lower compresion, and that they are better for tuboeing. I don't know fi this is true, but thats what I've heard.

And they R the same motor, therefore, 240's have the power of a pick up. I towed a small 12ft Seadoo Boat out of the water b/c the guy (who had a 2000 Explorer) had very very crappy tires and could not grip. He couldn't believe it.

i had the 91 nissan hardbody, and it had the 12 valve. thats the standard motor, and they also put in a v6. they are among the quicker trucks of 4 cylinders. i beat the s-10, ranger, tacoma, f-150, mazda trucks, and my truck had no performance parts.

haha yea my friends got a nissan pick up to. Its not very fast, but its torquey. Its a 5 speed. Man did he have fun when he figured out how to dump the clutch and hold the brakes...hahaha! He had to get new tires, so his old ones were seriously completely bald, to the wire lol. That was fun.

The trannies will not switch. if you put a 240 motor in the truck you gotta reuse the trucks tranny, and modification to the motor mounts(hammer), emmissions tube(sawzall, welder) starter(cordless drill) and its more fun when you use the stock injection system of the car and find a new place for the computer, harness, and re-interface the dash wiring, get power to the new harness, and the computer and injection system by jumping off of the stock truck relays.
Also, the stock exhaust mani from the car wont work, you have to use the trucks, and if you are doing this on single cam era stuff, the ports are different in the head on some years, so I port matched the mani to the new motors head.
I have done this swap, Its out front of the shop right now if anyone wants to see it. Lots of wierd stuff, but nothing that you really need to buy, just work. and they are burnout MONSTERS!!!!!
I highly recommend this to people that are good with custom stuff, and just like being a little different.
Next for the truck is the whole Low Life Kustomz treatment; Tubeframed, slammed, bagged, shaved, independent rear, and infinity V8 powered!
