KA24 timing chain rubbing

Okay, I've already done a search and read a ton of threads.....my question is has anyone removed this and had problems afterward with the timing chain assembly?

I only ask because I plan to....the timing chain just started rubbing intermitently against this metal cover. There is almost no clearance between the chain and it to begin with. The chain/cam gears all appear to be okay per inspection guidelines.

There isn't a way to check the tensioner without taking the front cover off is there?

you have to take toe front cover off to remove the right side guide, and you'll be able to see the upper tensioner as well. click the "garage guides" link in my sig for a writeup and pics.
