KA24DE Swap

Alright guys -

Here it is. I have a 1989 240sx with a KA24E. I have just recently found a 1993 240sx parts car with a KA24DE. I have always wanted the DE because i heard of its potential. The guy only wants $800 for it because it has been wrecked in the rear. First question is do you think its worth it if the motor is in great condition? Second question is just how difficult is it to do the DE swap. Thanks

I'm pretty sure it is a direct bolt in swap. Dont quote me on that because I have never done it before. I've seen DE's w/tranny go for as little as $300 before.

sounds like a good deal as long as the motor is really good. as for the swap i believe there are some wiring changes that need to be made, but other than that its pretty standard....do some searching to find out about the actual swap

provided the engine, ecu, and harness are good in the crashed car, all you need is some tools and a cherry picker... the swap is easy if you take your time, nothing really custom required.

if you decide to pick up the whole car, get these:
engine
transmission (that way you don't have to unbolt it from the engine)
engine harness
body harness (under dash harness. if you don't want to get this, you can also use the one on your car right now, but you're gonna have to cut and rewire/color match with the engine harness. Note: there will be wires left over if you do this.)
power steering reservoir and the hoses/lines
whole intake (tube to the air box)
coil
tach (if you want one that works)
engine-side brake booster vacuum hose
throttle cable
cruise control cable (if you have it)

power wash/clean your engine bay and swap the engine to its new home.

good luck with it.
