200 rwhp is much more when taken into account at the flywheel. I don't know what the driveline loss calculation is but for ****s and giggles lets say it is 20%.
So you would be talking about 240 crank HP. That is a big jump from the stock 140 HP.
100 horses are not made without loosing things like torque. That would make it a ***** to start and stop. Traffic would be a nightmare.
I think Idle would also go in the garbage. I have driven in cars with aggressive cams. My uncle's Z car drove like a paint shaker until he got on it heavy. His idle was rough. This is not something you want for a daily driver.
I would also think that the HP would be made at a high rpm. Something like the Vtec system where it is not used much unless the car is revved hard.
Fuel might be a problem. I don't think you can make that much power on 93 pump gas. You would most likely have to run a higher octane.
Maintenance would be too high to drive it all the time. I have co-workers who made mistakes of following domestic mag build issues. They built cars that had high HP but had to have the oil changed at a higher rate. The plugs fouled quicker. On and on.

I would think so. That is the route most guys go. It doesn't mean that All Motor is crap. All Motor guys get a lot of respect in my book. But I would go for the boost. Exhaust is already there, might as well us it for good.
wow there is some sohc respect in here . i truly am amazed by that
as most of you know i have a sohc ka and im turboing it next spring,i was gonna do it this month but my ecu is taking forever to come back from jwt (3 months now grrrr!!!) and i was gonna run it at 6psi on stock internals but i changed my mind and im gonna go get some pistons and rods so i can run 12 psi safely
so ima wait till next spring

Also, I have a n/a civic that makes 204hp on pump gas...
. But then again, honda excels on na.

What octane?
Does it have any maintanence problems?
FWIW, SOHC KA's are capable of at least a good 240 crank HP while still maintaining streetability. Just look at the 510's that do it with a carbed setup. Loosing streetability comes towards the 300hp area from what I've heard and seen.

Otherwise, you'd pretty much have to prove that the DOHC head flows better, and makes up for a heavier valvetrain. Some of the SOHC setups, both NA and turbo, are actually pretty nasty (as in the NA setups usually blow away any DOHC comparison, and the turbo setups compete with some of the best KAT's out there).
