losing power at random???

well so far in the begining when i got my 240 it was running good other than a lil low on coolant. but now for some reason sometimes when im driving it will lose power like i can floor it and it wont pull barely at all. it goes on and off at random times. the exhaust sound also changes. if anyone has any ideas of wat it could be so i can check it and replace wat i need to i would greatly appriciate any of ur help

sounds line bad spark plugs rotor and or cap. and mostly maf

start by visually inspecting electrical connections.

remove your cap and check out the rotor and see what color it is. if its black, its gotta go. a new rotor and cap should be added when you get a used car just becuase, unless the person changed it.

now pull your spark plugs out and see how they look if you have never change them do so along with good wires. i recommend getting a set of oem wires. just don't by some 20 dollar wires.

and last get some intake cleaner and clean your maf out.

just try cheap solutions first before you move on to things like possibly changing the whole distributer, alternators etc

Is it auto or manual? It may sound stupid but it could be getting stuck in high gear, mine does that every once in a while.

well for intake mani run car and buy some starting fluid or intake cleaner, while the car is running spray intake manifold all over , if the rpms rise, there is a leak in the mani

exhaust manifold leak will not do that you will just hear it and if you look on the side of the head above and below the header flange, you will see carbon build up.

as for head gasket, if that was blown you would have brown milky substance in you radiator and reservoir tank and you would see smoke that would taste sweeter than Kool Aid made by black stig

lol alright then i'll check it out today but thanks for clarifying that it is not the exhaust mani or probably not head or intake that narrows it down for me i'll post later if it fixes my problem or not

same **** is happening to me, i mean exactly the same. you get goin, and then it like just dies, and no matter how much gas you give it, it just bogs. i personally think its the injectors/and or the orings. which both i am replacing as soon as they arrive...

ya tomorrow ima go get some new injectors and replace them as well hopefully i slowly but surely narrow down the possiblities so far i know it has to be either the fuel pump fuel injectors or a leak somewhere or a bad sensor somewhere "for my car" ..... still would like anymore insite people can give me on this problem. But then when its done its time to start working for that SR20 lol

MAFS man, clean the wire with some electrical contact cleaner, dont use anything else to clean it. By the way, have you run the codes?

would a messed seal for a fuel injector do this cuz the other day i took off the fuel injectors cleaned um up and stuff put them back in. but when i started to start the car up it would start gas squirted out of one of them but it didnt before. upon taking that certain injector out i realized the O-ring seal on it was withering away and the tip of the nozzel was cracked a lil. so im curious would or could this have been causing my loss of power???
