I have a problem with my engine. Well maybe more than one.

I am running lean, but that isn't all. It also has an egr code. The computer seems to ignore the O2 sensors lean condition. I have checked the egr temp. I clear the codes and the check engine light comes on right away.

I am getting ready to smog the car in California.

Thus far.

-I have cleaned the plugs and wires.
-replaced rotor. cap ok.
-checked the egr sensor for resistance change when heated and cooled. I don't know the exact values it has to be so this may be my problem.

timing was set correctly by disconnecting the TPS then starting the engine, then setting the timing. After which I then connected the TPS.

I have some theries on what is happening but wanted to pass it by some other minds. This is definately not something simple such as the timing.
