More reliable?
Are the SR series engines a lot more reliable than the KA's?
I know some car manufacturers have what are to be known as bulletproof engines like the 2JZ yota.
What is nissans in your guys opinions?

KA's are deff. bulletproof cast iron baby!
sr20 mmm i can't really compare it to a ka. i don't know anything about sr's and I don't wanna know anything about sr's i'm not too big on the sr's..... but i would say ca18det is more reliable then sr hehe cuz yep its cast iron baby.

SR is aluminum head, aluminum block - compared to the cast iron KA. My vote goes to KA, and once someone says "SR's make more HP" consider how much $ you'd need to match HP numbers with both cars.
It's like people saying Honda motors are strong... sure - after you get a block guard, change pistons and rods, etc.

Why do you assume the SR's aluminum block makes it less reliable? Why not pick something like the rocker arms? But in any case it'll fail cause of the owner beats on it. All I can think of for real reliablity is the undersquare design of the KA would lead to excessive wear in high rpm's. But look how long they live anyway.

more boost and fuel means more work that has to be done, which means more heat... heat = strain. Its easier to compress gas and air at normal pressure than it is to compress it at 10 psi or whatever.

And how does any of that effect the reliability at all? All that heat is easily managed by the stock cooling equipment. Turbo's do not automatically reduce reliability look at tractor trailers... they'll do over 1 million miles with a **** load more boost and "strain." Turbo volvos, mercedes, vw's... I have seen go much farther than any nissan, turbo or not..... So, I say any furthur discussion on this topic is just gonna be pulled out said poster's ***.

its how they design and machine the block and how they bore the cylinders, how they design the water pump. its every single variable down to the very position of things. Why do you think when you look at electric fans, there are like 1000 different designs? cuz some work better than others. Theres a reason some cars are outrageously expensive.

So you don't know..... And by the description you gave I guess the SR is more reliable than the KA? I mean you yourself said iron must be better earlier, but I believe it's common practice in all the outragously expensive (for a reason remember) cars to use aluminum.... I mean hell atleast it's harder to warp the head on a SR...
