1987-1988 was the last of the rear wheel drive ERA for the USDM s12 200SX's that came with the VG30e. It declined the sales of the 300zx in 1988. In 1989 it was discontinued and the 240sx with the 4 banger KA24e took it's place in order to keep 300zx sales high.
This is proof that a vg30 swap is very duable in the 240sx. Especially if it was in the production s12 which has a smaller frame and chassis..
