N/A Monster

Got my high compressoin pistons today (11.6:1). Got my head back also (decked 0.225"). Did the math. Does 13.3:1 compression sound right?? If it is, wow. I'm also planning on installing a race cam and am wondering about the stock valve clearance. Any body know it?? I'm looking at a cam right now that has a .504" lift and I think as long as its timed perfectly, it should run excellent.

I was really surprised by the head. For $25, he decked it and cleaned it, and I mean CLEANED. I've almost finished the head, port and polish and thinking about larger valves, higher ratio rockers, and stiffer valvesprings. With all of this, I'm hoping to get the car up to 8K safely and still get power after 7K.

I am also thinking about adding a little boost (4-6 #) via a supercharger. That will give the car around 310 hp at the wheels without boost and around 550+ hp with boost .

I can't wait untill I get the car out on the road. The first race I go to will be NA, depending on the run, I may add boost. If I can get in to the past 12's NA,

If you wanna keep up with the project, just go to our site.

Thanks man. When everything is done, I'm breaking in the motor and taking it to a dyno first thing.

Yeah, If you could post your Dyno chart that would be cool. Sounds really cool, what charger are you going to use, and why not turbo if your going for a drag car, little more power and some crazy top end.

Sounds good, please keep all of us informed with the mods and what they did for you,

Kam

It is a KA. And 7M, I'm not using a turbo because of the high compression. A supercharger will give me a crap load of low end and some mid to top. A turbo is only good for mid and top. The super will only be like 7 psi where as a turbo, I could boost up to 15-20, but not on high compression. I already got a hella turbo project right now (Turbo VVTI V6 in a MR2) and the 240 would be a daily driver.

I was doing some research on superchargers and how they work.
The centrifical ones are pretty much a turbocharger with an internal gear that gears the shaft up to spin the compressor faster. Thats how I got my idea that i could just build one, and make it look nice.
The supercharger is actually one that I built from an Airesearch M10 (Garret T3). Its actually looks kinda funny on my car and i spent $200 for the turbo, rebuild, pulleys, belts, and BOV (from a MKIII Supra). It rigged up kinda weird but it works great. I installed a large pulley (4") on to the altenator pulley(attached to the shaft outside of the origional pulley), then I mounted the turbo (the exhaust turbine ground down with a pulley installed) and ran my oil lines and put the belt on. I installed the BOV and it all works (first installation on a 94 Mirage, without the second pulley on the altenator, ran 2 psi). When I get my motor in the car, I'll post some pics of it.

What are you planning on running for fuel on 13.3:1 compression? 91 octane is just gonna detonate like crazy even without boost, no?

Also, an AiReasearch M10 is much smaller than a T3. It's the turbo that was installed on the S12 200SX turbo CA18ET. I believe in T naming/sizing convention it would likely have been a T2.

Still curious how you plan to run 13:1 compression on street gas without knocking.

Got Math!???
You will be lucky to get 250 at the flywheel. And it Still be roadable. Yet, go for it!!! Make me happy! And do something WE have not. After all, that is how the Atom Bomb came about.. Someone Blew IT while splitting atoms...

Sorry it took so long to reply, school and crap. For starters, who said I would be running pump fuel??? One thing, you CANNOT run pump fuel on a car with that kinda compression. This is gonna be all race (except for Friday nights, then it will be street). I'll be running at least 105, probally more. All I know is that I wish that I had this thing running already, saw a 7.1 second civic (1/8 mile) tonight at the local track and it actually wasn't riced (no body kit, lights, or anything). It looked completly stock except for exhaust, loud BOV, and the drag slicks.

And Justin B., A M10 is a T3. Same exhaust housing, same compressor housing, same shaft, bearings, everything. The turbos are the same thing. If you look at this picture T3 and then go to Turbocity and find the picture, read the descriptoin on the left. It clearly states Garrett style T-3. That is what a M10 looks like, exactly.
