Need Help!!!

Alright so my car won't idle and it sounds like crap. The base timing is correct but after trying to time my distributor I find that it sounds a little better when its turned all the way to the right but it still sounds bad don't get me wrong. I've got new plugs, new wires, new cap but could the whole distributor be bad? Also the car won't idle, I hear that it could be a vacuum leak but I've replaced all the vacuum lines and checked them over a hundred times also one time I got it to idle when I did nothing but then I killed it and started it back up and it wouldn't idle again. I don't know what to do anymore I've been trying to get this thing running right for about three months now, I'm out of idea's of what to do so help a fellow 240 owner out guys, anything would be appreciated.

Its a 1990 so its the KA24E, I've had this problem ever since I rebuilt it. I completely rebuilt the engine with new bearings, rings, gaskets, seals, rebuilt head, and some other stuff. Now I know I've got the base timing on the cam set right but I gotta check the distributor bc I think its a tooth off, could that be it?

yes it could be it, and you said you already looked for a vacuum leak so that just about rules that out.

tps maybe, insufficient fuel, plugged fuel filter, bad maf, bad dist., incorrect spark plug gap, spark plug wires not in the right place.

all these are good possibilities that are easy to check.
