So i started looking at the guides, and found this: Looks snapped off to me. Does anyone have a pic of what it normally looks like?

And a closer view:

and i think it was caused by a bad lower tensioner... look right to you? i dont know what it should look like

What do you guys think? DO i need that guide down there?

Looks like its Toast. Happened to me recently. See if any SR guys have a KA around it's cheaper than a new timing chain setup.

see... the motor runs great and stuff, but the sound gets annoying waiting at mcdonalds or whatever... or if im on a pizza delivery and go through a neighborhood, people look at me funny.. but the ricers who think that my car runs like **** cuz it sounds like **** get a taste of hydrocarbons. Un catalyzed hydrocarbons.

Oh I didn't know, sounds like the Motor is Money otherwise! It looks like Metal Shavings are getting in Oil by the Chainsaw effect. You don't want any shavings blocking any Oil passages.

oil is fine... i changed it the day after it started rattling, thinking the oil wasnt allowing enough pressure to the tensioner or something...didnt look letallic... gotta check it to make sure again... well at least i got a chance to put some rtv under my valve cover to seal up the slight oil seepage from having 2 holes stripped.

....theres no way in hell im gonna do that. i refuse to go through all the work of just about pulling the motor (which i hear is easier in order to do this) just to replace the chain and guides. Its not worth the time to be because i dont have the tools to do most of the work, so ill just get a motor swap, like a ca18 and have a shop that one of my freinds knows real well help me with it. KA's suck in NA trim, and turboing such a tired motor sucks too.
