Question oil pan removal

i know that in some cars you need to clear out a lot of things just to remove the oil pan, and in some cases drop the motor. is it possible to remove the oil pan on a 240sx with out removal of major conponents.... I want to clean and inspect it on my car...

1. disassemble the front crossmember
2. unbolt the motor, lift it, and drop the sway bar a little

Taken from Sils post not to long ago. Search in the future.

yep, yep, JynX is 100% correctamundo. i've searched here, on 240sxforums, NICO, and freshalloy, and they all unanimously agreed that those are the only methods. reason being, half of the oil pan is trapped in there by the crossmember. oh, and from my (ongoing) experience, getting it back it is gonna be a *****.

well, i have neither a covered garage, nor a paved driveway. i get home from work like 20 minutes before the sun goes down, and it's been raining lately (not good for the jacking up of the vehicle on soggy ground). weather permitting, i plan to give it another go this weekend.

thanks, i appreciate that. well, the good news is that i finally got it back together this past weekend. the bad news is that it's still ticking. the only other minor problems i can hope for is blocked oil passages or a toasted oil pump. otherwise, it's a bent valve or lifter or something.

the easyest way is to drop the crossmember and remove the moter mount bolts from underneath jack the motor up and the pan pulls out from the front very easy. hope this helps

that would probably be the preferable way. w/the crossmember out of the way, the oil pickup won't be such a PITA. btw dkdeleon, thanks for the tip. i'm sure if it wasn't for u, i woulda long sense dumped gasoline on my oil pan and lit it on fire.
